Sanduo is deity and supreme numen of Naxi people, it is said that he always wore white armor, 

took white pike and rode white horse, always protected Naxi people, so Naxi people worshipped 

him. Some old people thought that Sanduo was reincarnation of Naxi people. There was a tale 

about Sanduo:

      

             Sanduo told a king once:" If you consecrate three animals for me, you will get good luck from 

me." the king did as he said, but did not get the good luck from Sanduo, the queen complained 

that:" Animals will be no because of him, but where the good luck at? Where?" Sanduo appeared 

and said:" I plan to let the half of the people worship you as a king, why complain? I will go back 

to Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, return the extra animals to you." then all things came back, and 

was tenfold as before, but the king fell into a decline gradually. At the same time, Sanduo told a

 person whose name was Maizong who came from Lijiang:" Maizong, I'm Sanduo, I'm from North-Place, you are a integrity, you can make your kingdom get blessing, so now I will help you, to be 

winner!" then Sanduo became a white hoatzin and disappeared. Afterwards, there was a hero

 who wore white armor helped Maizong at every fighting, until succeed. One day, Maizong's 

subordinated found a white stone, they took up, it was so light; but when they got to the

 mountainside, it became so heavy so that they couldn't took up. So they consecrate the white 

stone with rice, blessed it become light, then it became light again.. When they got to temple, 

it became heavy again so that they couldn't take up again however!

     

             Later, that became a Sanduo Festival.
